PRESS RELEASE 13th ANNUAL GOLD COAST SMALL BUSINESS CONFERENCE Local Ventura County Navy commands along with other major federal buying offices will conduct a one-day dynamic outreach conference that is specifically for small businesses doing business with the Federal government. The event is June 20th at the Clarion Ventura Beach Hotel from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The Naval Facilities Institute, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Contracts Office, is hosting the conference. Other local Navy participants include the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, Point Mugu/China Lake; Port Hueneme Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center; Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego; and the Engineering Field Division, Southwest, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, San Diego. The objective of the conference is to assist small business firms in being more competitive and increase Federal prime and sub- contract awards to small businesses. Topics and speakers include "What's New with the Navy Small Business Program," Ms. Nancy Tarrant, OSN, SADBU; "Managing Change through Technology," RADM Jenkins, ASN RDA (ABM); "Who, How, What, & Why of NMCI," Ms. Julie Krnc, SPAWAR and Ms. Gwen Johnson, EDS Incorporated; "Electronic Commerce," Mr. James Epler, ECRC; "GSA Advantage," Pamela Smith-Cressel; "SBA Program Resources," Mr. Leonard Manzanares, PCR SBA; "Mentor-Prot g Program," Mr. Glenn Delgado, OSN, SADBU and Mr. Tizoc Loza, TRW Incorporated; "Veterans Program," Mr. Scott Denniston, VA . "Ask the Experts," a panel of leading industry and government Federal small business program experts is scheduled from 4:00 5:00 p.m. to answer your questions about doing business with the Federal government. Major prime contractors are available from 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. to discuss subcontracting opportunities and how to do business with prime vendors. Government representatives from major buying offices including Navy, Air Force, Army Corp of Engineers, Air National Guard, General Services Administration, Internal Revenue Service and many others will be available all day to answer your questions. Electronic Commerce Resource Center and Small Business Administration will offer hands-on demonstrations at their counseling tables on Pronet, central contractor registration system, and other useful web sites. Local banks, accounting firms, and local Government agencies will be available all day to discuss funding and other key business issues. Conference agenda and registration information are available on line at www.sdecrc.com. Registration fee is $50.00 per person and includes breakfast and lunch. Registration fee must be received by June 15th and is NON-REFUNDABLE. Late registration and walk in registration the day of the event is $75.00 per person payable by check only.
