- Description
- The Army intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis to acquire one (1) each Small Arms Ammunition Brass Safety Certification Unit (SCU). The SCU shall processes field brass through a high temperature chamber to verify no explosives remain. The SCU feed unit shall be capable of receiving up to 2 cubic yards of field brass and uniformly feeding at a minimum 300 pounds per hour into the high temperature chamber. In the high temperature chamber each cartridge case shall be heated by propane to over 500 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of two minutes. The temperature for the heating chamber shall be measured and variable to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. The processed brass shall then be discharged at a height to accommodate a 55-gallon drum on a standard pallet. The complete unit shall come on a specifically designed trailer to allow for portability between Ammunition Supply Points. This is a sole source requirement to The WastAway Division of Bouldin & Lawson, Inc. 70 Easy Street, McMinnville, TN 37111-7177. Delivery is required FOB Destination, Ft. Lewis, Washington with delivery within two (2) weeks of contract award. Inspection and acceptance will be performed at destination by a Tooele Army Depot authorized representative. Inquiries may be submitted at the above address. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received fifteen (15) days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
