- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Coherent Laser Group on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a single source, for the purchase of a Coherent laser system as follows: MIRA 900D, dual femtosecond and picosecond ultrafast Ti:S Laser, a VERDI 10 Watt 110V Laser System, and a Tested Third Harmonic Generator 9300 Dual System. This laser system is 100% hardware compatible to a pre-existing laser system: MIRA 900S femtosecond ultrafast Ti:S Laser and an Innova Sabre R Series high power cw Ar-Ion Pump laser. There are numerous pre-existing resources such as laser optics sets, alignment fixtures, and custom designed analysis programs engineered exclusively for use with the Coherent laser system: optics for extended wavelength and broadband operation, a RegA 9000 regenerative amplifier for 250KHz amplified ultrafast pulse operation, a OPA9800 near-infrared optical parametric amplifier, custom software and hardware for remote tuning operation, and a difference frequency generator for conversion of near infrared light to mid infrared light. Therefore, the substitution of any other brand name laser system would result in unnecessary and costly reengineering and retrofitting of these existing resources. The delivery time for this requirement is 140 days after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR Subpart 13.5-Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by April 23, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. However, this requirement is unrestricted. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. For information, call the POC identified above.
