- Description
- A one day technology licensing briefing will be held at the Atlanta International Airport on May 30, 2001. You are invited to attend this briefing at which time TRAJECT will be described and demonstrated, and the business opportunities associated to the technology will be presented. TRAJECT is a real-time airport Surface Movement Advisor that electronically interconnects multiple, heterogeneous data sources (air traffic control, control tower, ramp control, airline data and airline operations) to facilitate information sharing and improve taxi queuing. In this mode, empirical data has shown substantial benefits, reducing airport departure taxi times by about one minute in an FAA-sponsored evaluation of an initial prototype at Atlanta in 1997. This represented an $18-20 million/year savings to airlines. Today the system is still in use at Atlanta, the world's busiest airport. TRAJECT may also be used for scheduling the movement of multiple vehicles in other applications, such as marine vessels in harbors and ports, or trucks and railroad cars in ports or shipping yards. It may also be used for managing containers or other objects, such as containers at a shipping dock or stock on a factory floor or warehouse.
