Description
Provide the physicist services of one physicist at the Northport VA Medical Center, 79 Middleville Road, Northport, NY, 11768. Services include: 1)Diagnostic Radiology: Quarterly collimation tests as specified in Part 16 NY State Sanitary Code for all radiographic and fluoroscopic systems. Semi-annual Part 16 NY State tests including: Radiographic: reproducibility, HVL, kV calibration, exposure timer accuracy, mA linearity, phototimer evaluation,interlocks, and tomography evaluation. Fluoroscopic: reproducibility, HVL, kV calibration, timer accuracy, mA linearity, phototimer evaluation, high and low contrast resolution, and maximum and typical fluoroscopic entrance exposure rates. Audit of Diagnostic Radiology QC program. Annual Estimated skin exposures for commonly used exams in all rooms. Fluoroscopic table top exposure rates. CT quality assurance tests and dose estimates as specified in Part 16 NY State Sanitary Code. Revies of Diagnostic Radiology's departmental policies and procedures. As needed (10 call back visits): a)shielding evaluations, b)exposure evaluations to patient or staff, c)new equipment specifications and acceptance testing, d)review of corrective actions, e)inservice technologists/technicians in QC test procedures, f)inservice groups regarding radiation safety,g)meet with Diagnostic Radiology Quality Control/Safety Committee, h) whenever changes are implemented that would impact on patient doses, provide estimated skin exposures for commonly used exams. 2)Mammography: Maintain QC program consistent with NY State and ACR requirements to include: annual calibration and glandular dose estimates, semi-annual output measurements, and semi-annual audit of QC program. 3)Cardiology: Quarterly collimation tests as specified in NY State Part 16, semi-annual output measurements and audits. 4)Education: Weekly educational service visits at the School of Radiological Sciences (two hours per week during academic year). Reports must be submitted for all tests and reviews/audits. Equipment on site includes approximately: 24 x-ray tubes, 4 dental units, 1 CT, and 1 mammography unit. Contract performance will be required from the award date to September 30,2001 which would be the base period plus four (4) one year options depending on the availabilty of funds.
