Description

The 2500KVA unit substation "ME" in building 133 of the Naval Aviation Depot, Cherry Point, NC is to be modified and the electrical loads which are supplied from this unit substation are to have their old feeders replaced with new feeders. The modifications to the exisitng unit substation consist of installing a new 15KV feeder to the existing transformer and rmeoving the existing 4000A, 480V bus duct between the outdoor transformer and switchgear in the adjacent mechanical room. The existing switchgear in the mechanical room, consisting of a 480V section, a 208V transformer and a 208V switchgear section is to be removed. New switchgear is to be installed to replace it. The new switchgear will consist of an outdoor section and three other major indoor switchboards. Most of the feeders to the panels and motor control centers fed from the old switchgear are to be replaced with new and many of these existing panels are to be replaced with new. The project also includes the replacement of two motor control centers. The project involves demolition and construction in a production facility which will remain in operation during the entire project, except for scheduled electrical outages to swap over between old and new equipment. The duration and quantity of these outages shall be kept to a minimum. Estimated Cost Range: Between $500,000 and $1,000,000.
