Description
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize LLNL's invention of a method for detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), and novel proteins used in the method. These novel proteins are simple to make and easy to use. The SNP detection method is applicable to free standing DNA molecules, as well as to DNA molecules attached to a solid phase, such as DNA microarrays, DNA attached to pre-labeled beads, or DNA on a membrane. Combined with and utilizing DNA microarray technology, flow cytometry, capillary electrophoresis, or liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry, the invention will enable simple, accurate, high through-put, and cost-effective SNP detection. LLNL has applied for U.S. and foreign patents for the proteins, the process involved in making them, and their methods of use, including the method of detecting SNPs. Currently, LLNL is seeking industrial partners to 1) commercialize the invention to detect SNPs with various technologies; 2) manufacture and market the proteins; and 3) explore other utilities of the proteins. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's invention and methods relating to SNP detection using novel proteins should provide a written statement of interest including a commercialization plan and a description of corporate capabilities relevant to commercializing the technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: CBD01-009 Please provide your written statement by June 13, 2001, to ensure consideration of your interest in LLNL's invention and methods relating to SNP detection using novel proteins.
