- Description
- The US Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, has a requirement for a quantity of 14 each, Parachutes, Cargo, 64 foot diameter, assembly, (G-12E) with fluorocarbon finish. This initiative seeks to reduce the damage to cargo parachute canopy fabrics, through the application of a fluorocarbon finish. Current parachute canopy fabrics are finished with a silicone oil that is classified as a non-permanent finish that breaks down and dissipates in a relatively short life span. The finish supports increased service life, lower life cycle cost and improved safety margins for cargo parachute systems. This added modification to the Parachute assembly (G-12E) NSN-1670-01-065-3755, shall have a fluorocarbon finish to the parachute canopy. MIL-C-7530, Type I-2.25 oz/sq. finished nylon cloth shall be treated with a fluorocarbon so applied that it is evenly distributed throughout the cloth. The amount of fluorocarbon added, shall be a minimum of 0.05 percent based on the weight of the dry cloth. The finisher shall submit a certificate of compliance for each finisher's roll indicating that fluorocarbon was used. The parachute assembly shall be accomplished in accordance with a Technical Data Package List, Specification Conversion Table, Deviations to PIA-H-7195, Hardware, Parachute and approved waiver for Parachute, Cargo G-12, to be furnished upon release of the Request for Quotation (RFQ). A full and open/unrestricted acquisition is planned. The NAIC code for this effort is 314999. For the purpose of this requirement, any concern employing 500 or fewer employees is considered a small business. This acquisition will utilize best value source selection and will result in an award of a Firm Fixed Price Type Purchase Order. The Best Value Source selection will be based on the following factors: Delivery Schedule, Past Performance and Manufacturing Process in that order of importance. The RFQ will be posted on the Natick Acquisition Web Site: http://www3.natick.army.mil on or about 7 May 2001. The due date for receipt of RFQs will be specified on the face page at time of issuance. All questions and/or inquiries must be submitted either by datafax or E-mail. TELEPHONE CALLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The E-mail address is Elaine.Scarnici@natick.army.mil. The datafax number is (508)233-5286.
