Description
Descripton: The National Park Service (NPS) requests proposals from parties interested in leasing the historic Verbauwhedes Building, located in Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Skagway, Alaska. The Verbauwhede's Building is located at 252 Broadway in the Skagway Historic District. The building is a two-story, wood frame historic commercial structure which has 13 feet of store front and approximately 728 square feet on the two floors (approximately 364 sq. ft. on each floor). It has been restored and is in excellent condition (some finish work may be required by lessee). The building may be leased for a period of 3-15 years, though 10 years is preferred, starting January 1, 2002. Food service and public overnight accommodation uses are not compatible with the design of, and preservation goals for, this building. Arcades, alcoholic beverage service, tobacco products sold from vending machines, and entertainment inappropriate for a family audience are also deemed unacceptable. Proposals for such uses will not be considered. The minimum annual rent is $20,000/year, payable monthly. Proposals must be received at Office of the Superintendent, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Second & Broadway, P.O. Box 517, Skagway, AK 99840 not later than 5:00pm local time on Friday, June 8, 2001. A copy of the RFP may be obtained from Chief Ranger Reed McCluskey, at the address above or by telephone 907-983-9218, fax 907-983-9249, or email -- reed_mccluskey@nps.gov.
