Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Roper Scientific, of Trenton, New Jersey, for acquisition of a Digital CCD Spectroscopy System and Software to be used by the Ceramics Division at NIST. All components of the system must be completely compatible and interoperable with the existing Roper/Princeton Instruments system that is currently in existence at NIST. In addition, the file format of the binary data files produced by the system must be compatible with the Princeton Instrument file format, so as to allow for NIST to use existing, internally-written, data processing software based on that format. Roper Scientific is, therefore, the only manufacturer that can supply the required system components to the Government.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required 90 days from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333314, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by APRIL 24, 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
