Description

Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to replace the slate roof and perform various exterior repairs at Building #315 at the former U.S. Coast Guard Facility on Governors Island, New York City. The work includes but is not limited to: the replacement of the slate and copper roof, the replacement of gutter linings and downspouts and flashing; masonry repointing, the painting of exterior wood work, masonry repairs, ornamental railing repairs, replacement of skylights and miscellaneous associated work. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business participation and is estimated between $250,000 and $500,000. The applicable NAICS Code is 233320. The tentative date for receipt of bids is 25 May 2001. Group site visits are tentatively scheduled for 9 and 16 May 2001. Advance reservations are required for the site visits. Further information concerning the site visits is contained in the solicitation. Bid packages will be available on or about 24 April 2001 at a non-refundable charge of $31. Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. Any amendments issued under this solicitation shall also be posted on this website. Also, you may refer to a list of other printers on the U.S. Coast Guard CEU/PROVIDENCE website at http://www.uscg.mil/mlclant/ceuprovidence. Printers on this list may be able to download and print the solicitation and drawings and specifications for a fee. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
