Description
It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications and the History of Medicine Division to negotiate a continuation of Indexing Services on a sole-source basis with the Lisa DeHoff of Kent, Ohio. Ms. DeHoff will continue indexing the backlog of digital documents produced by the Digital Manuscripts Program. This service will analyze digitized documents for subjects and rationalize these subjects against NLM's Medical Subject Headings thesaurus (MeSH), and against secondary thesaurus for terms not found in MeSH. Ms. DeHoff will prepare a limited thesaurus of subject terms on a collection-by-collection basis, and enter the subject terms as well as their source thesaurus into the Digital Manuscripts database, on a document-by-document basis. This continuation of service will provide NLM with additional data, and furnish tight control over the number of index terms employed. Ms. DeHoff has a Master of Library Science degree. She developed and implemented the digital manuscripts limited thesaurus on a collection-by-collection basis. Ms. De Hoff is a trained subject matter specialist in the history of medicine with 2 years of experience. She is skilled in using MeSH as well as being familiar with the database system used by the Digital Manuscripts Program. Ms. DeHoff has provided the accuracy standards of NLM's digital documents program. This acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 -- Simplified Acquisitions. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as stated above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
