Description

CHPS is a program to develop scaleable integrated hybrid electric power systems for future combat vehicles by conducting experiments in a re-configurable laboratory, and developing component technologies and virtual prototyping. The Army plans to continue performance of Task 1 "Systems Integration Laboratory" under the scope of work for DARPA Contract MDA972-97-C-0031 to perform systems engineerin, testing, and reporting/documentation in the CHPS Systems Integration Laboratory. This effort will emphasize failure modes and effects (FME) and degradation analysis, component interfacing and testing, system testing, high-speed data acquisition, reliability/maintainability, safety and hazard control, electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/C) for the CHPS. The US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM-Warren) will negotiate this effort on a sole source basis under FAR 6-302.1 with Northrop-Grumman Corporation of El Segundo, CA. TACOM-Warren plans to issue a supplemental agreement modification to the existing cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to extend the period of performance for an additional six months and add $300,000 to fund this effort. No solicitation will be issued. The target award date is 30 May 01. See numbered Notes 22 and 26.
