Description

Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game (ADF&G) for the NOAA Damage Assessment Center (DAC). Purpose of proposed contract is to install and maintain a juvenile and adult weir and trap on the outlet of Summer Bay Lake, Unalaska Island, and enumerate outmigrating and returning salmon. The DAC is the Federal Lead Administrative Trustee responsible for assessment of impacts from 1997 grounding and oil spill from freighter Kuroshima near Unalaska, Alaska. The ADF&G is a co-trustee for the incident. The work site is in a remote location in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. There are no commercial firms that perform this type of work in the area. The ADF&G currently operates a weir in the area with required land, buildings, permits, and personnel. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
