Description

This project is to provide for improvements to 4 existing turnouts, construction of 5 new turnouts, improvement of 5 existing parking pads, and construction of 1 new parking pad and includes clearing and grubbing, haul, end haul, borrow excavation, ditch excavation, furnishing and installing corrugated metal pipes, placing government-furnished crushed aggregate, pit development, seeding and fertilizing, and hazard tree removal. The project is located on Mitkof Island in Southeast Alaska and begins approximately 17 kilometers south of Petersburg, Alaska on the Mitkof Highway. Contract time is 180 calendar days. The price range for the project is $25,000 to $100,000. Simplified acquisition procedures apply to this acquisition. The solicitation will be posted to the Tongass National Forest homepage at http://www.fs.fed.us/r10/tongass for viewing and printing on or about April 8, 2001. The closiung date for receipt of quotes will be approximately 30 days after the issue date of the Request for Quotes.
