- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Divison, Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida, intends to solicit, on a sole source basis, to Mine Safety Appliances, P. O. Box 428, Pittsburg, PA 15230 for the procurement of sixty-five (65) Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs). The SCBA is a Type C, pressure-demand respirator system with an emergency air supply of 15 minutes. The SCBA is a PremAire Cadet 15M respirator manufactured by the Mine Safety Appliances company. Only those articles that have been successfully tested are qualified. Procedures are specified under SS521-AA-MAN-010 U.S. Navy Diving and Manned Hyperbaric Certification Manual. The objective of this process is to verify that the life support system provides acceptable levels of safety throughout the specified operating range when approved operating and maintenance procedures are followed. The intent of the process is to provide maximum reasonable assurance that an accident will not occur and establishes maximum reasonable assurance that the user may be recovered without injury if there is an accident. MSA is the only company that has been qualified by cognizant authority to provide the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. Delivery will be made to the Coastal Systems Station within 60 DAC. Note 22 applies.
