- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Expeditionary Airfield Team at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst NJ, working for the United States Marine Corps, is seeking information for a product or material (hereby referred to as a "dust palliative"), that will eliminate the problem of dust proliferation and FOD (foreign object damage) in and around expeditionary airfield sites subject to aircraft operations. In this respect, FOD refers to the creation of airborne dust and particulate matter as an aircraft taxis or operates over a non-stabilized area of ground. This material, as it is cast into the air, obstructs the visibility and causes danger to the internal workings of the aircraft. Given the global mission of the Marine Corps as well as the generally unknown composition of a particular subgrade during mission planning, one product that can work on all surface/subsurface soil conditions is desired. This would additionally serve to reduce the logistical demands that could degrade mission readiness. The product is desired to be environmentally friendly, user-friendly and easy to apply, lightweight and available commercially off the shelf. It is also desired that the final product require the minimum amount of component mixing on site, as applicable, and also minimize the amount of water required as a catalyst for reaction. The product shall reduce dust emissions, prevent loss of treated materials, be compatible with various soil types and be compatible with the infrastructure (aircraft and vehicles). Upon design, test and evaluation of the product, technical data requirements will be completed and the product will be procured and fielded to the Marines. The Expeditionary Airfield Team, in conjunction with the initiative as described above, requires support in this specialized field in order to fully develop and implement the subject dust palliative system. This includes design of all materials and equipment, and associated logistics of the system. Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation MAY NOT necessarily result from this RFI. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. The Government WILL NOT pay for any information received in response to this RFI nor will the Government compensate any respondent with costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. The Government will not release any information marked with a Proprietary legend, received in response to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend.
