Description

The U. S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, intends to procure services for synthesizing thermograph data collected in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) from 1989 to present. These services will entail processing seawater temperature data. The temperature data has been continually recorded at two-hour intervals at 31 stations in the FKNMS over the past eleven years. The 31 stations form a strategic subsurface network that covers the entire Florida reef tract from Fowey Rocks Lighthouse off Miami (Florida) to Newground Shoal, 40 miles west of Key West (Florida). In between those points are numerous thermographs placed in tidal passes under Florida Keys bridges. The instruments employed are accurate within +/- 0.3 degree celsius. Instrumentation is traceable to the National Institute of Standards of Technology. The entire data set consists of approximately 1.5 million water temperature data points. The information will be made available to management and research groups in both digital and hardcopy formats. Information will be formatted for use on the FKNMS webpage. The tasks involved in this project include: Obtaining Data, Formatting Data, Archiving Data, and Producing Deliverables. Deliverables are progress reports, graphs in digital and hard copy formats, location maps of thermographs in digital and hard copy formats, and a complete data set of compiling graphs, archived on CD ROM and zip disk sets. The project duration is 12 months. NAICS code 51421 applies. This is a total small business set-aside.
