Description

Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to perform exterior repairs at U.S. Coast Guard Penfield Reef Light. This structure is located offshore in Long Island Sound off Fairfield County, Connecticut. The successful contractor shall be required to furnish his own transportation to the worksite. The work includes roofing and masonry repairs, painting and miscellaneous associated work. Bid Bonds and Performance and Payment Bonds are required. A one time site visit is tentatively scheduled for 1 May 2001. Advance reservations are required for the site visit. Further details are contained in the solicitation. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business participation. This project is estimated between $100,000 and $250,000. The applicable NAICS Code is 233320. The tentative date for receipt of bids is 10 May 2001. Bid packages will be available on or about 9 April 2001 at a non-refundable charge of $24 Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. Any amendments issued under this solicitation shall also be posted on this website. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
