Description

This is a Sources Sought notice to alert the Erosion Control/Native Plant Micropropagation/Soil Stabilization industry to this upcoming requirement. This is not a solicitation and no proposals should be submitted to this notice. Parsons-UXB Joint Venture wishes to compile their Bidder's List of all interested parties of a solicitation for Revegetation Services. Parsons-UXB Joint Venture has a Prime Contract N62742-95-D-1369 with the U. S. Navy to perform UXO Ordnance Cleanup of Kaho`olawe. Kaho'olawe Island is located 151.3 km (94 miles) southeast of Oahu, and 9.7 km (6 miles) southwest of Maui, contains approximately 11,655 hectares (28,800 acres), is 17.7 km (11 miles) long, 11.3 km (7 miles) wide and has a peak elevation of 450 m (1,477 feet). The Kaho'olawe Island Reserve includes the island and waters extending seaward 3.2 km 92 miles from the shoreline. The island is very dry, receiving approximately 25.5 to 63.5 cm (10 to 25 inches) of rainfall annually. More than one quarter of the island has been severely eroded and contains very sparse vegetation. The island is remote and uninhabited without permanent facilities or utilities, and includes only limited dirt roads and foot trails. Parsons-UXB desires planting of native plants of disturbed areas along a road which requires erosion control. The area measures 70,000 square meters. Depending upon the success of this replanting, revegating the whole island might be contemplated.
