This same requirement was issued previously in the commerce business daily as a draft on or around February 23, 2001. The purpose of this announcement is to inform the public that the final version of the solicitaiton will be available for down-loading from the US ARMY ARDEC procnet website.(reference site address below) As stated in the previous announcement, the Government considers the affordability of the IMU as its highest priority in enabling all current and future guided munitions. The developed low cost MEMS IMU product shall also be applicable to land navigation and commercial systems. The Government's intent is to incorporate the knowledge gained from this BAA process into current and future munition and missile development and manufacturing improvement efforts and other guidance, navigation and control (GN&C) developments, and to validate multiple offeror MEMS IMU designs and manufacturing efforts, culminating with live fire verification performance test of pre-production IMUs in the Army's 155-mm Soft Recovery Vehicles (SRVs) and tactical missiles. The Government will provide the proving grounds for verification tests. The Government is seeking industry partners to equally share in the development cost and risk with the Government.
