Description

A non-competitive Firm Fixed Price (FFP) acquisition is proposed with RITEC, Simi Valley, California, to upgrade a quantity of 100 each currently fielded printers through the insertion of new Commercial Off-The Shelf (COTS) printer hardware. The existing line printer is part of the fielded Firefinder AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-37 radars. Reengineering of government furnished property printers will be done with thermal print technology insertion. The current military printer is based on an electrosensitive technology that requires a specialized print head and complementary paper source in order to generate characters. The engineers at RITEC have specific knowledge of the original printer design and operation, including the printer control logic and firmware that was implemented for Firefinder. RITEC requires minimal development time to facilitate the technology transition because of their knowledge and experience; this is extremely critical to this procurement because the paper availability for the legacy printer has become obsolete. Supply shortages have already impacted the soldier. All responsible sources may submit a bid or proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
