Description

This publication serves as a notice of intent to procure on a sole-source basis a contract with Research Planning, Inc. to produce Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) map and database atlases for Honduras East Atlantic Coast and the major port areas of Guatamala. As part of the United State Government's response to the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in Central America, NOAA's goal for reconstruction is to provide infrastructure, tools, and information to minimize the exposure to future disasters and to promote sustainable uses of natural resources. As part of the Hurricane Mitch Reconstruction Program, NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) has this requirement. The Contractor's responsibilities shall be to define the shoreline geomorphology using the standard ESI shoreline ranking scheme and to compile existing data on biological and human resources for the study area. This project will include two tasks: Task 1: Shoreline mapping, biological and human-use data collection, with the Contractor being responsible for all data collection and automation; and Task 2: Map and digital data production. The Contractor shall be responsible for scheduling and managing the review of the maps by the data providers and resource managers in each country in close consultation with NOAA. The period of performance is from the date of contract award through September 30, 2001. This notice of intent is note a request for competitive proposals. See Numbered Note 22.
