THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT SYNPOSIS ONLY. THE PURPOSE OF THIS SOURCES SOUGHT SYNPOSIS IS TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF POTENTIAL QUALIFIED SOURCES AND THEIR SIZE CLASSIFICATIONS (HUBZONE 8(a), 8(a), HUBZONE, SMALL, SMALL DISADVANTAGED AND LARGE BUSINESS) RELATIVE TO NAICS CODE 443120 (SIZE STANDARD $6.5 MILLION AVERAGE ANNUAL RECEIPTS FOR PRECEDING THREE FISCAL YEARS). RESPONSES TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS WILL BE USED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE APPROPRIATE ACQUISITION DECISIONS -- SEE SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS BELOW. AFTER REVIEW OF THE RESPONSES TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT, A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE SUBSEQUENTLY PUBLISHED IN THE CBD. RESPONSES TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ARE NOT ADEQUATE RESPONSES TO THE SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT. ALL INTERESTED OFFERORS WILL HAVE TO RESPOND TO THE SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT, IF EVENTUALLY PUBLISHED, IN ADDITION TO RESPONDING TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT. The Veterans Affairs Medical Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico, needs to determine the availability in the market of certain software, and any hardware necessary to adequately run said software: a. The required tools must provide an integrated solution that offers detailed visibility into network devices and topology, device availability tracking, monitoring and prioritization of events, and network traffic monitoring. b. The required solution must track utilization trends, network availability and responsiveness. Network problems can be identified and analyzed through a drilldown user interface and reports can be generated to display this status information. c. This system should integrate with network infrastructure devices to provide a single network management console from which the functions of both products can be performed d. The required solution must be able to collect data and should include an automated reporting system to alert network management staff during a network failure event. e. In addition, the system should be able to generate customizable reports to track the network health. Responses to this notice shall include, as a minimum and in addition to the technical information requested, business size status (large business, hubzone, 8(a), small business, small disadvantaged business, women-owned business, veteran owned business, disabled veteran owned business, etc.) using NAICS code 443120. Responses to this notice shall be mailed to Veterans Affairs Medical Center, ATTN: Mr. Ren G. Esteves, Contracting Division (672/BO-3), 10 Calle Casia, San Juan, Puerto Rico 00921-3201. Responses must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on 20 March 2001. Firms responding to this announcement which fail to provide all of the required information cannot be used to help the Government make the acquisition decisions which is the intent of this synopsis. This notice is to help the San Juan VA Medical Center in determining potential sources only. No solicitation is currently available. All firms responding to this sources sought notice are advised that their response to this notice is not a request to be considered for a contract award. If a solicitation is issued, it will be announced later in the CBD and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the response to this announcement. Response to this sources sought synopsis IS NOT a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
