Description

The Regional Supply Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA is issuing Solicitation # N60191-01-Q-0005 as a request for quote (RFQ) for a furnace, accessories and installation. Request pricing and availability for the following item: 1 each Lucifer Model DL5-243636 furnace (or equal). CHAMBER: 24"H x 36"W x 36"L OVERALL: 110"H x 70"W x 63"L VOLTAGE: 230/3/60 POWER: 60 kW TEMP: 2,000 degrees F A complete instruction manual is supplied with the furnace which includes start up and operating procedures, parts list, electrical schematics and maintenance guidelines. All Lucifer furnaces are factory wired and pre-tested prior to shipment. The furnace does not contain any asbestos, mercury or other hazardous materials known to us at this time. To include the following options: a. Digital soak timer that begins timing when the operating temperature is reached. TP2 heating elements remain on and alarm sounds. b. Internal timer function of Honeywell temperature controller. TPH2 heating elements remain on and alarm sounds. c. Furnish labor, material and equipment to remove existing furnace and install new one. INSULATION: Multi-layered combination consisting of 4 " 2,000 degrees F insulating brick and 2 " insulating block. Roof is insulated with 8" ceramic fiber modules. The fiber roof will not crack and fail which is a common problem with brick lined roof structures. HEARTH: Silicon carbide segmented hearth plates mounted on refractory piers form a flat work area, provide full support for the work load and readily permit thermal transfer from the floor heating elements. HEATING ELEMENTS: Coiled Kanthal wire of low density is secured in easy replaceable radiant panels. Radiant panels have "V" grooves open to the coils providing maximum radiation and faster heat response time. Alumina tubes support the element wires through the insulation for protection from contamination. Elements are placed on side walls, door and floor to provide uniform heat distribution. THERMOCOUPLE: A type (X) 8 gauge thermocouple to sense chamber temperature is connected via a lead wire to the temperature controller. DOOR: An air operated counterweighted vertical lift door is activated via a foot treadle. Foot treadle has a center stop position enabling operator to raise the door to any height. The door is lined with a combination of ceramic fiber and castable to minimize the door weight and provide a low outside shell temperature. DOOR SWITCH: Automatically disengages all power to the heating coils when the door is in the open position. POWER CONTROLS: Mounted in a separate enclosure at the rear of the furnace and will consist of the following items:  (1) magnetic contactor  (1) 230/460 volt to 115 volt control transformer  (1) set of main power connecting terminals  (1) set of instrument fuses and terminal blocks TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM: Mounted in a separate panel located on the right side of the furnace:  (1) Honeywell DC 2300 microprocessor based digital time proportioning temperature controller with separate indication for setpoint and furnace temperature. Controller accuracy is = 0.25% of span. Typical = 1 digit for display. A single setpoint heat ramp up to 4.25 hours is provided.  (1) set of control switches and pilot lights This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED.
