Description

Notice of intent to award sole source GSA delivery order to NCR, 2 Choke Cherry Road, Rockville, MD 20850, under authority of FAR 6.302-1. NCR will provide hardware maintenance for the Multilevel Mail Server (MMS) System for the Defense Message System (DMS). NCR will provide maintenance support, procurement and replenishment of parts and equipment, help desk technical support, database for reports, travel (CONUS/OCONUS) and emergency maintenance support at a fixed price for one year. This order is a bridge effort to allow the Government time to conduct market research/sources sought for existing/developed equipment to replace the current equipment listed below. Therefore subsequent to this interim effort a new multiple-year competitive procurement is contemplated to replace the current legacy equipment consisting of NCR 3455/2 Servers (14" monitor (1024x768), keyboard, mouse, cables, switches, operating system software, circuit boards, floppy drives, internal drives). NCR UNIX SVR4 MP-RAS release 3.02.02 and the associated B1 enhanced Multilevel Security (MLS) release 3.02.02 software. Printer (Lexmark 2381 Plus) model # BJ-2381-002 and associated cables, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Model # RT2100-60, Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) Units model # ECCS NC5F2F-2100LD (includes two 2.1 GB single-ended disk drives, two power supplies, two fan assemblies, controllers and associated cables and modules). Our initial competition was solicited last year with anticipation of obtaining multiple offers however all offers received were nonresponsive and as a result the RFP was cancelled. No other sources are available which can satisfy this one year requirement due to the urgency of maintaining support to this aging equipment, the availability of replacement parts and the unique nature of these services. No public solicitation will be issued. Notice is being synopsized to satisfy FAR Part 5 requirements. Questions concerning this acquisition may be directed to Cheryl Fisher no later than 08 MAR 01.
