- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source contract with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), 2101 Constitution Avenue, Washington, DC under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) -- Only one responsible source. This procurement is to provide partial support of the Solid State Sciences Committee (SSSC) as proposed by the National Research Council (NRC); Commission on Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Applications (CPSMA) and the Board on Physics and Astronomy (BPA). The NAS is uniquely qualified to perform this requirement based on its breadth of available experts from industry, government, academia, and international committees to provide the technical competence required to address the concerns of the science and technology research programs. These experts are diverse in background and represent multi disciplines which are achievable only through the format and operations of NBS. The period of performance for this requirement is from June 1, 2001 through May 31, 2002 with two one-year option periods. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed priced purchase order. The proposed requirement is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements.. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responses received within the response date identified will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. Reference Numbered Note 26.
