Description

This is a Notice of Intent from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, MD to contract on an other than full and open competition basis with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, A Wholly Owned Subsidiary of the Boeing Company (BOEING), 2401 E. Wardlow Road, Long Beach, California 90807-5309. The purpose of this research and development contract is to perform planning for a proposed flight test and demonstration of the Industria de Turbo Propulsores, S.A. (ITP) thrust vectoring nozzle mounted on the X-31 airacraft at Patuxent River, Maryland. BOEING and its German partner, EADS, designed, developed, and manufactured the X-31 aircraft. They are also the prime contractor for the VECTOR Program effort currently being performed at Patuxent River, Maryland. No Request For Proposals will be issued on the basis of this Notice of Intent. If sufficient competition warrants, a formal RFP will be issued. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
