Description
This is a revised notice to correct the telephone number in #11, Contact Point. The National Institutes of Health is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and potential technical capability of businesses to provide services to the Office of Science Education (OSE). The OSE is creating a series of curriculum supplements for K-12 teachers to use when teaching the life sciences. These supplements are designed to use inquiry based activities to enhance student learning. The OSE is seeking organizations that can advise and assist the office in creating and implementing professional development activities for K-12 teachers. The intended procurement will be classified under NAICS Code 611430 with a size standard of $5,000,000. The OSE intends to award a new contract to provide services that support the programs of the office. OSE's mission is to plan, develop and coordinate a comprehensive science education program to strengthen and enhance efforts of the NIH to attract young people to medical and behavioral science careers and to improve science literacy in both adults and children. Services that will be required through this procurement will include, but are not limited to design innovative approaches to both web-based and traditional professional development activities that can help teachers implement these new curriculum supplements in the classroom. Minimum requirements include current and thorough knowledge of: the National Science Education Standards, the content science in each of the supplements, and utilization of integrations of multiple types of technology to effectively accomplish professional development. Experience with providing broad-based science teacher professional development must be demonstrated. This market survey is being conducted through the CBD to reach the widest possible audience and to gather current market information. Responding firms should provide two(2) copies of the capability statement to the above-numbered address by March 14, 2001.
