Description
Notice of intent to establish a 'Qualified Products List (QPL)'. In accordance with FAR Subpart 9.2 -- Qualifications Requirements, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) intends to establish Qualified Products List for the technology commonly referred to as 'Network Attached Storage (NAS)'. As provided for by FAR 9.203, this qualification action is being performed in advance and independently of any specific acquisition action. Network Attached Storage is/are specialized file server(s) that connects to the network. NAS uses traditional LAN protocols such as Ethernet and TCP/IP and processes only file I/O requests such as NFS (UNIX) and SMB (DOS/Windows). Specific Qualification Requirements include but are not limited to 1) Minimum CIFS read rate 650KBytes/sec, write rate 850KBytes/sec, 2) Redundant, hot swappable N+1 power supplies, 3) Redundant, hot swappable N+1 cooling, 4) Auto reconfiguration of hotswapped drive (no downtime to reconfigure new drive), 5) On-sight visual failure notification of a component failure, 6) Email notification of any vital component failure, 7) Rebootable from remote web browser interface, 8) Upgradeable to Gigabit Ethernet connection, 9) Can get IP address via DHCP, 10) Standalone case that can be rack mounted if necessary, 11) Screwdriverless hot-swappability of hard drives is preferred but standard hot-swappable drives are acceptable, 12) One year replacement warranty on all vital components, 13) Capacity 50-500GB (min-max RANGE), 14) RAID 5 compliant, 15) Web-browser remote administration, 16) NFS 3.0 compliant (RFC 1813), 17) CIFS 1.0 compliant (RFC 1034), 18) 10/100 Ethernet connection, and 19) 110 power only. Firms wishing to offer their product(s) for consideration for inclusion in the BLM's QPL for NAS technology equipment shall provide, at their expense, a fully configured/functional sample of their product for test and evaluation purposes. Interested vendors shall contact George Heine at 303-236-0099 to establish their respective delivery and evaluation schedule. At a minimum, vendors shall provide their offered technology for a period of thirty (30) days. In addition to providing the actual unit, vendors shall provide such technical assistance as may be required by the BLM to complete its evaluation of the product being offered. In accordance with FAR 9.202 vendors wishing to offer their technology for consideration shall do so at their expense. In addition to coordinating the delivery of the offered item with George Heine, vendors shall provide written notice of their intent to offer a product for consideration to Gary Meade at the above address, by FAX to 303.236.9421 or by Email to: Gary Meade@BLM.GOV on or before close of business 23 March 2001. Failure of a firm to provide an evaluation unit in accordance with the above will preclude the inclusion of that product in the BLM's QPL and will remove that technology from consideration in future procurement action for NAS technology.
