Description

A/E shall provide all investigative and design surveys, verification of as-built conditions, construction drawings and cost estimate for replacement of AHU/HVAC systems serving floors ten through twelve of the main tower of VAMC-Atlanta. Provide design to construct new mechanical room space on 12th floor of tower. Install new HVAC equipment in new mechanical room. Area of each floor is approx 22,000 sq ft. Design will include as a minimum: new electrical power distribution system to serve all newly installed equipment, new conduit, conductors, motor control centers, etc, as necessary for new design, new lighting system in new and existing rooftop mechanical spaces, duct mounted smoke detectors and smoke dampers, fire detection and alarm system on new mechanical spaces and update existing fire detection and alarm systems, all necessary demolition, replacement, and relocation of any existing architectural, mechanical, civil, electrical, communication, structural, and any other building features as required. A/E will attempt to use existing shafts for new duckwork and piping, however, construct new duct and pipe shafts or enlarge existing shafts as necessary to install piping and ductwork. In all areas of new work and demolition, provide design for abatement of asbestos and any other environmental hazardous items. Provide design to minimize disruption of medical center operations to include phasing or sequencing plans, temporary electrical, HVAC, water, sewer, steam, condensate, medical/laboratory gases and vacuum supplies to areas deemed necessary to remain functional. Provide all design in accordance with VA design guide handbooks, VA, NFPA, NEC, BOCA regulations. Drawing shall be provided in autocad 2000 format, design specs in MS Word 2000. Estimated construction cost range is between $1,000,000 to $2,000,000. No construction contract may be awarded to firm that designs the project. A/E firm must be located within 150 miles radius of work site to be considered. NAICS code is 541310. This is unrestricted procurement and is subject to availability of funds.
