Description
A/E shall provide all investigative and design work, verification of as-built conditions, construction drawings and cost estimate for replacement of AHU/HVAC systems serving floors four through nine of the main tower of VAMC-Atlanta. New heating and ventilation system for third floor of tower should include new DDC control system with electric actuators for new HVAC systems. Also design to convert existing dry pipe fire sprinkler system on third floor to wet pipe system. Area of each floor is approx 22,000 sq ft. Design will include: demolition of existing dual duct air handling system; cooling and heating coils, valves, piping, etc, and replacement of existing dial duct air handling system with new Variable Air Volume (VAV) air handlers; demolition of all existing VAV boxes on floors 4 thru 9 and replacement with new single duct shut-off VAV boxes with hot water terminal reheat with ducted return. Existing two pipe induction cabinet unit in exterior perimeter room and two existing air handlers serving these cabinets are to remain to heat and cool perimeter rooms. These shall remain in service throughout construction. Provide new hydronic system composed of new steam to hot water heat exchangers, pumps, expansion tank, air separator, steam temperature control valves, steam pressure reducing valves, etc. Size new steam to water heat exchangers, steam PRV's, steam temperature control valves, pumps, etc, for total future calculated heating load for floors 4 thru 9. In areas of new work and demolition design for abatement of asbestos and any other environmental hazardous items. Design for mimimum disruption of medical center operations. Provide all design in accordance with VA, NFPA, NEC, BOCA regulations. Drawings shall be provided in autocad 2000 format, design specs in Word MS 2000. Estimated construction cost range is between $1,000,000 to $2,000,000. No construction contract may be awarded to firm that designs the project. A/E firm must be located within 150 mile radius of work site to be considered. NAICS code is 541310. This is an unrestricted procurement and is subject to availability of funds.
