Description

The U.S. Dept of Commerce/NOAA/NWS/ Office of Hydrology Services Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Comet Graphics to provide a data communications networking consultnat to support interconnectivity between various Automated Flood Warning Systems (AFWS), including the integrated Flood Observing and Warning System (IFLOWS), and the Passiac Flood Warning System (PFWS) to the NWS Advanced Weather Information Processing System (AWIPS). The proposed contractor meets the following specified requirements: 1) Knowledge/experience in the existing network software and hardware computer and communication systems configurations, locations and personal unique to the hydrologic operations of the NWS.; 2) Specialized knowledge/experience in IFLOWS software, private vendor flood warning software, Windows NT server configuration and software interfaces with the NWS AWIPS/LDAD project; 3) Knowledge/experience with IFLOWS & other AFWS radio communication networks; 4) Knowledge of TCP/IP, PPP and other common communications protocols used in networking and; 5) Skills in diagnosis and troubleshooting communication networks.
