72 -- ACQUISITION AND INSTALLATION OF SOLID SLAT BLINDS FOR THE SSA EAST HIGH RISE BUILDING AND THE EAST LOW RISE BUILDING

Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate a sole source acquisition with Sun Control Systems, 521 E. Joppa Road, Suite 204A, Baltimore, MD 21234 to remove the existing perforated slat mechanism and replace them with a solid (non-perforated) slat system using existing headrail hardware and all other re-usable parts. The slat mechanism will be manufactured only by Levolor, Riviera 1 inch, .0085" slat thickness, 15.7 slats per foot of vertical drop, bronze color (same as existing and recycled parts). These solid slat blinds shall be delivered to, and the services to install, shall be performed at the Social Security Administration, East High Rise Building and East Low Rise Building, 6401 Security Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21235-6401. Sun Control Systems is the only known source capable of providing the required solid slat blinds and installation services. This acquisition is determined to be subject to Part 12 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) regarding the acquisition of commercial items and will also be conducted subject to Part 13 of the FAR regarding the application of simplified acquisition procedures. Interested sources that believe they have the ability to perform the services required can identify their capability to Stephen Slaughter, Contracting Officer, via e-mail at stephen.slaughter@ssa.gov. Responses must be received by no later than 3:00 p.m., local prevailing time on Tuesday, March 6, 2001. The Government will consider all responses but a determination by the Government not to compete this action is solely under the discretion of the Government. This is neither a request for quotation nor an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. If no viable responses are received by 3:00 p.m., local prevailing time on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, the Government will issue a purchase order to Sun Control Systems.
