Description

The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate and award a firm fixed price modification to existing Contract N00019-00-C-0184 for Phase III of the T-45TS Ground Handling Characteristics Study on a sole source basis to the only known source, McDonnell Douglas Corporation (a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of the Boeing Company), located in St. Louis, MO. This effort will investigate the feasibility of implementing a new Nose Wheel Yaw Rate Feedback system to correct deficiencies in ground handling during landing rollout. Additionally, the effort includes supporting design and production of test hardware and software and providing qualification test, reliability test, and full flight test evaluation of the system. Phase III builds upon efforts completed by McDonnell Douglas Corporation in Phases I and II. The current effort will be complete by 30 March 2002. McDonnell Douglas Corporation is the original manufacturer, and only known source, possessing the requisite knowledge, experience, special tooling, and technical data required to perform the Ground Handling Characteristics Study.
