Description

FORWARD AND AFT FACING PASSENGER SEATS FOR AIR FORCE TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. This Request For Information (RFI) has two purposes. First, this notice is seeking to collect information from vendors explaining what they would need to do either through the modification of a current product or through a new development effort to qualify one, two and three man passenger seats for use on C-5, C-17, C-130, C-135 and C-141 aircraft. In order to be qualified, seats will have to meet the technical data requirements (performance specification) as identified in MIL-PRF-26688A. For the purpose of this RFI, a copy of MIL-PRF-26688A will not be provided. However, the basic requirements are as follows: 1) qualification requirements include static, dynamic and environmental testing. Seats will be tested with a 250-pound occupant at a load of 16 G's, 2) seats must integrate into and be capable of full range of motion in all identified aircraft, 3) aircraft modifications are not acceptable and 4) a standardized seat that can be used in all identified aircraft with modifications to the seat-to-aircraft interface. Second, this notice is seeking rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for the qualification effort to include research, design and testing. When submitting ROM cost estimates, please provide supporting information for your estimate. A detailed cost estimate is not necessary, as time will not permit.
