Description
The NIH intends to procure on a sole source basis to the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, 1401 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland, 20852 to provide a full time PET Technologist by modifying current contract number N02-CL-00002 with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation. Under this contract the Henry M. Jackson Foundation provides complete PET Radiochemistry services for the National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center. The contract is currently in the first of four (4) one year option periods. If each option is exercised, the contract will expire on September 30, 2004. Under this proposed modification of the current contract, some of the duties that the PET Technolgist will be responsible for performing are PET procedures using brain and body scanners with a variety of positron-emitting radiopharmecueticals, obtaining blood samples manually or with automated equipment, performing routine maintenance for ancillary PET equipment and performing standard calibration procedures on equipment. It is believed that the Henry M. Jackson Foundation is the sole source for this equipment under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 because of the following: The above contract number N02-CL-00002 is currently in place with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for PET radiochemistry services. Therefore, because of a need for continuity of services and the cost involved with a new procurement Henry M. Jackson is the only responsible source as stated under FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 45 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. See Numbered Note 22.
