Description

The U. S. Geological Survey intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with James Corboy, Research Geologist, Austin, Texas under the authority of FAR 6.302.1. The proposed contract is for non-personal services requiring alpine, rock climbing experience, field experience on Devonian Carboniferous and Permian carbonate platform rocks requiring five years or more of rock climbing experience at elevations of 14,000 feet; at least one year of field experience studying Devonian and Carboniferous carbonate rocks in the Bolshoi Karatau mountains of Central Asia with emphasis on carbonate rocks in the mountains of Kazakhstan. Also required is in-depth knowledge of the different types of subsurface logs and other subsurface databases and an in-depth knowledge of the carbonate petroleum geology of the North Caspian Basin in western Kazakhstan and Russia. Also required is hands-on experience in analyzing a variety of subsurface well logs and seismic reflection profiles within the North Caspian Basin of Kazakhstan and in synthesizing these data into subsurface maps and cross sections.
