Description

NASA/JSC plans to issue a contract modification contract NAS 9-00064 for the assembly and test of an additional electro-hydraulic drive unit (EHDU). NASA/JSC intends to purchase the support from Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation on a sole source basis. The authority for OTHER THAN FULL and OPEN COMPETITION is 10 U.S.C.2304(c)(1). Only Hamilton Sundsrtand, the designer and developer of the original prototype EHDU unit has the knowledge and equipment to assemble and test the additional unit. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See Note 22. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
