Description
MARKET RESEARCH: The CECOM, Fuel Cell Technology Team at Ft. Belvoir is interested in identifying commercially available fuel cells and/or fuel cell systems that might meet current and future needs within the Army. Information submitted under this sources sought will be used as part of a fuel cell market investigation and will serve to identify opportunities for future programs. The Army has a need for small, lightweight and quiet power sources in the low to mid power range. This power range has traditionally been met by battery technologies. This announcement is seeking to identify near-term technology that may provide size, weight and cost advantage over current primary and rechargeable batteries. Submitted information should be for fuel cells and/or systems which are either current commercial products or are planned to be commercialized within 12 months of this announcement. Two power ranges are of primary interest: 1) small, man portable fuel cell and/or systems which are in the power range of 10 -- 30 Watts average and 2) larger mobile fuel cells and/or systems in the 150 W to 1 kW average. Minimum desired performance for man portable systems are: 100 watt-hrs/liter and 70 watt-hrs/kg (based on 400 watt-hr mission); or fuel cell stack characteristics of 25 watts/liter and 25 watts/kg. Desired performance for mobile fuel cells are: 35 watts/kg and 25 watts/liter; or fuel cell stack performance of 300 watts/kg and 200 watts/liter. The CECOM point of contact is Mr. Terry G. DuBois (703) 704-3352. The closing date for this request is March 7, 2001. Companies with fuel cells and/or systems which meet or exceed the above requirements should provide design characteristics and performance data to: US Army CECOM C2, ATTN: Mr. Terry G. DuBois, Mail Stop: AMSEL-RD-C2-AP-ES-A, 10108 Gridley Rd. Suite 1, Fort Belvoir, Virginia 22060-5817. THE SUBMISSION OF THIS INFORMATION IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS.
