Description

The NVESD Rapid Prototyping and Field Support Division, RPFSD, Special Projects, is seeking technical and programmatic information concerning efforts toward the development of a spherical field of regard, driver's/pilot's vision aid. Such an aid has been referred to as an invisible cockpit, invisible turret, glass cockpit, etc. Information from vendors involved in commercially or government funded enterprises, as well as, efforts from academia are of interest. Technologies of interest include real-time vision sensors, displays, head trackers, image software, etc. This Government effort is to determine the requirements for an assisted vision system for pilotage of various helicopters. The effort will determine the realistic requirements for such a system in the near future. The effort will also develop the plan forward for improvements to such a system leveraging emerging technologies. The information provided may result in requests for demonstrations, when applicable, to the user group and possible purchase of limited hardware. The purpose of this RFI is to identify potential sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. US Army CECOM, NVESD does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information submitted or for use of such information.
