- Description
- The Caribbean National Forest is soliciting proposals to repair and upgrade the current audio-visual system in the El Portal Visitor Center. The Visitor Center is located at the entrance to the Forest near Palmer, PR and was opened in June 1996. In September 1998 the facility was impacted by hurricane Georges. As a result, some components of the audiovisual systems were damaged by prolonged exposure to high humidity and a lack of electrical power for several months after the hurricane. The Forest Service desires to make the system completely functional again while correcting some long-standing problems and begin an annual maintenance contract for the system. Currently the visitor center is closed for repairs through April 2001. Repairs and upgrading of the AV system should be completed by May 1, 2001. Offerors shall provide an integrated system that meets the requirements while staying within a budget of $65,000 not including the cost of annual maintenance.
