- Description
- The Bureau of Reclamation is conducting a market survey to determine the commerciality of a future acquisition opportunity. Public Law 106-461 authorizes the Department of the Interior to produce and sell products relating to Hoover Dam. Therefore, the Bureau of Reclamation is considering contracting for the design, production and marketing of commemorative items to sell to the 1.2 million annual visitors at Hoover Dam. The commemorative items will be created utilizing the following materials: (1) Approximately 5 tons of copper originally utilized in powerplant operations; (2) Other original Hoover Dam parts and equipment now out of service, such as shear pins; (3) Hoover Dam concrete core samples; and (4) Other scrap materials. Commemorative items must be of high quality reflecting Hoover Dam's contribution to the Nation. Items must also reflect the authenticity of the material as well as reflecting an educational or informational theme and be appropriate for sale to visitors at Hoover Dam. Sources capable, experienced, and interested in performing the above work should submit the following information about their capabilities: (1) Company literature regarding descriptions of similar work performed in the past. (2) A brief concept paper that provides the nature of the commemorative item(s), sources of manufacture, an estimated cost of production, a suggested selling price, estimated annual sales (in dollars or numbers of items sold), a general marketing plan outlining where the items could be sold, and estimated time schedule for design and production. (3) Please also state your business size (in number of employees or average annual gross receipts) and whether it is woman- or minority-owned. Please include your name, address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address with your response. You may send the information to the above point of contact in any one of the following three ways: (1) By facsimile to (702) 293-8499; (2) By mail to Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region, Attention: LC-3116, P.O. Box 61470, Boulder City, Nevada 89006-1470; or (3) By e-mail to crotheim@lc.usbr.gov. Responses should be submitted no later than close of business on February 12, 2001. Please note: No solicitation exists at this time, and there are no documents available. This is NOT a request for offers or proposals; the Bureau is currently conducting market research only.
