Description
It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine to negotiate on a sole source basis to DeLima Associates, McLean, VA 22101 for the proprietary Licensing of DeLima Associates' Consumer Product Information Database by The Toxicology and Environment Health Information Program (TEHIP) of The National Library of Medicine. The Consumer Product Information Database contains chemical and health effects data for common household products. The database is unique in that for the first time, it compiles in one place brand names of household products, and identifies, for each brand name, its chemical ingredients by chemical name and the chemical's universal identifier, the CAS Registry Number. This linking of brand names to individual chemical ingredients will be a valuable addition to the existing TEHIP files. The existing TEHIP files contain a wealth of health data on exposure to individual chemicals, but provides no way to translate this information to the specific commercial products, usually know to consumers by only their brand names. The database includes manufacturer provided data, such as the material safety data sheet and a detailed public contact information for a particular manufacturer including an 800 number. The integration of these consumer oriented data with existing health data in TEHIP databases will be critical. The use of the existing TEHIP databases, designed originally for the professional community, will be extended to a wider audience, seeking information about chemical exposures from household products. This is not a Request for Quotations(RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible and responsive sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as specified as listed above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice. NLM synopsis No. NLM 01-053/SLF. Inquires regarding this procurement may be made to Sheila L. Fauble, Contract Specialist, NLM on (301) 496-6546.
