- Description
- Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to remove and dispose of various hazardous materials from the interior of Castle Williams located at the former U.S. Coast Guard Governors Island facility in New York City. The hazardous material includes asbestos contaminated material, asbestos pipe insulation, lead based paint, lead containing paint and pigeon nesting materials. The work also includes the pesticide decontamination of an approximate 750 square foot room. A 20% Bid Guarantee is required to be submitted with the bid and the successful contractor will be required to submit a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond after award. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business participation. This project is estimated between $250,000 and $500,000. The applicable NAICS Code is 235990. The tentative date for receipt of bids is 21 March 2001. Bid packages will be available on or about 13 February 2001 at a non-refundable charge of $43. Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. Group site visits are tentatively scheduled for 28 February and 14 March 2001. Further information concerning the site visits is contained in the solicitation. All relevant solicitation documents including specifications and drawings may also be accessed for download for free commencing on the date of issue at the following website: http://www.eps.gov. Any amendments issued under this solicitation shall also be posted on this website. Printers on this list may be able to download and print the solicitation and drawings and specifications for a fee. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
