Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is requesting information on fiber optic data switches. The switch shall have end-to-end photonic connectivity, no conversions, and point-to-point connections. The switch shall have a total signal loss of 3 dB or less on any path through the switch. The switch shall be capable of being controlled via software. The switch should have an RS-232 communications interface. The switch should be scaleable, matrixable, and non-blocking. The switch should have redundant, hot-swappable power-supplies. The switch should fit a standard EIA 19" rack mount and should be capable of operating in temperatures between 45 and 100 degrees F. NSWCDD is seeking switches that can accommodate either single-mode or multi-mode fiber, or both. NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. This request is for information only. This inquiry is intended to identify likely commercial products that will meet the requirements for the fiber optic data switches and obtain a summary of each product's capabilities. Companies with products meeting or exceeding the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references. Interested firms shall submit information by 28 February 2001 to Contracting Officer, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Code SD12, Building 183, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, VA 22448-5100.
