Description

THE DESCRIPTION OF WORK INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL PRESOLICITATION NOTICE FOR DACW29-01-T-0048 SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH THE FOLLOWING: The work consists of placing a 36" diameter, -inch wall thickness round pipe culvert under Louisiana Highway 70 in Morgan City, Louisiana in the vicinity of Lake Palourde. The culvert will be composed of steel or smooth-wall pipe. One flared end section shall be fitted on the south end of the culvert (Lake End Park side). The culvert shall be installed via the "jack-and-bore" method to avoid road closures or damage to the existing pavement during the contract. The total length of the culvert shall be between 60 and 70 feet, not including the end section. Some excavation will be required to deepen the drainage ditch on the north side of the road (Atchafalaya Basin Levee side) to the elevation of the bottom of the culvert. Soil removed as a result of the jack-and-bore operations and excavation shall be removed from the work site by the Contractor. The Contractor shall also provide as-built drawings (site map, plan view, and cross-section) upon completion. A section of 6-foot high chain-link fence around the Lake View Park property will require removal by the Contractor in order to perform the jack-and-bore. The fence shall be restored to its original condition upon prior to completion of the contract. The contract work is required to be completed within 30 calendar days after contract award, since the culvert will be used by another contractor to lay dredge discharge pipeline under the road during upcoming dredging operations scheduled to begin on that date. The work also includes performing all traffic control necessary for the safety of Contractor personnel and passing motorists. A Request for Quotations (RFQ) will be issued for this job on or about 9 February 2001. THIS IS A 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. NAICS Code: 234990
