Description

NASA/DFRC hereby solicits information from potential soucres for the repair and modification of fire suppression/fire protection systems in various buildings throughtout the NASA-Dryden Flight Research Center complex. The fire suppression portion of this effort encompasses the design, furnishing, and installation of several new and complete underfloor Inergen Fire Suppression systems, known as Zone 7, that will be interfaced to existing fire control panels. Effort includes the design, furnishing, and installation of new Inergen Control Panels (ICP), Graphic Annuciator Panels (GAP), detectors, audio/visual alarms, manual release stations, abort switches, and Power Distribution Units (PDU) and Air Handling Units (AHU). Also included, is the modification of an existing Zone 2 Inergen underfloor system to cover an expanded room area. Modification of the Zone 2 Inergen system will include the design, furnishing, and installation of Inergen cylinders, piping nozzles, hangars, detectors, audio/visual alarms, and the interfacing to an exisitng fire control panel. Included in the fire protection part of this effort is the design, furnishing, and installation of a new, complete, and fully functioning sprinkler system for various rooftop mechnaical rooms, as well as, the installation of an underfloor wet pipe fire sprinkler with new control valve tamper switches and water flow switch interfaced to an existing fire alarm control panel. Also, included is the design, furnishing, and installation of several new and complete fire alarm systems, (less NASA furnished and programmed fire control panels), including new detectors, new audio/visual alarms, manual pull stations, annunciator and waterflow switches in various buildings. The contractor shall install the NASA furnished fire control panels and make all terminations to the panels. This work is phased by building group. All construction work on the project will be performed during normal work hours; 7:00 AM to 4:00PM. After hours fire alarm testing will be scheduled as necessary. The order of magnitude of the procurement is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 and the effort is estimated to last 195 days. The NAICS Code and size standard for this procurement is 235110 and $11.5 million, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB/RFO is on or about February 9, 2001 with an anticipated offer closing date on or about March 10, 2001. A firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the IFB/RFO. Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the potential offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any). Potential offerors will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation and amendments (if any). Hard copies of specifications and drawings may be obtained from the Bid Distribution office; however, the closing date for the hard copy received shall be the same as the solicitation, inclusive of any amendments, released on the Internet.
