- Description
- The Government has a requirement for a fishing vessel to conduct a mid-water to near-surface trawl survey of juvenile salmonids and associated fishes, neuston, plankton , and other biological and physical oceanography measurements off SW Washington and N Oregon in 2001 with a Government option to perform the same work in 2002. The Government will supply the trawl net and doors. The charter will begin in one of the following: Newport, OR, Warrenton, OR, or Astoria, OR. There will be three (3) sampling cruises, with each cruise lasting 10 days. These cruises are scheduled for the last 10 days of May, June and September. The total number of sampling days will be 30. Vessel requirements include: minimum length of 20m (85 ft), but shorter boats that meet all other requirements will be considered; minimum continuous horsepower from the main engine of 500; must be able to tow standard Hake trawl gear at a continuous speed of 7.5 km/hr (4 kts.); minimum cruising speed of 15 km/hr (8 kts.) in low sea states; must be completely rigged for mid-water trawling; flush deck area for sampling equipment including an area (approximately 8 x 8 ft square) where a sampling table for working on catches and obtaining biological data can be set up.
