Description
The Government has a requirement for a fishing vessel to conduct a mid-water to near-surface trawl survey of juvenile salmonid predators off the mouth of the Columbia River in 2001 with an option for the same work in 2002. The Government will supply the trawl net, doors, and floats. The charter will begin in either Warrenton, OR, or Astoria, OR on or about 24 April through 30 July each year. The duration of each charter will be 2 days approximately every 10 days for a total charter (late April through July) of 10 sampling cruises, each 2 days long. Sampling (surface trawling) will be conducted primarily at night. Vessel requirements include: minium length of 20m (85 ft); minimum continuous horsepower from the main engine of 500; must be able to tow standard Hake trawl gear at a continuous speed of 7.5 km/hr (4 kts.); minimum cruising speed of 15 km/hr (8 kts.) in low sea states; must be completely rigged for mid-water trawling; flush deck area for sampling equipment including an area (approximately 8 x 8 ft square) where a sampling table for working on catches and obtaining biological data can be set up. The remainder of the vessel requirements are listed in the Statement of Work. All responsible offers will be considered.
